From historic period properties to vibrant commercial spaces, our skilled team brings every surface to life.
We have worked on period properties, heritage buildings, new builds and social housing projects. We have decorated the interiors and exteriors of shops, offices, cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs, clubs, community centres, libraries and studio complexes. We have painted organizations such as the Feminist Library in Peckham, Dusty Knuckle Bakery in Dalston, The Glory pub and nightclub in Shoreditch, the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham and Hackney Downs Studios to name but a few. We have painted many prominent public figures’ properties from Clara Amfo to Henry Holland, Sandy Toksvig to Aries Moross.
Prior to starting any job we ensure all existing flooring, furniture, lighting, switches and sockets are carefully covered and protected. We can paint all interior components - walls, ceilings including ornate coving and cornicing, skirting, doors, architraves, window frames and shutters, handrails, spindles and balustrades, treads and risers, kitchen cabinets, fireplace surrounds, radiators, floorboards and furnishings. We can also remove paint when required and spray any finer detailing.
Preparation is decoration they say, we are meticulous with our prep, it’s the key to the final aesthetic. We almost always start with a degree of filling, sanding, caulking and sealing. By initially addressing noticeable chips, cracks, dents, holes and rough patches we allow the primer and topcoats to be applied with ease for an ultra smooth finish.
We have vast experience using both good quality durable trade paints and higher end mineral based emulsions that offer flatter chalkier finishes. For woodwork, eggshell, satinwood or gloss can be used depending on the desired sheen. Many upper end brands also offer eggshells that have low sheen percentages so the woodwork finish can also be very flat.
We cover all forms of exterior decoration from a repaint of a complete property including all brickwork, masonry and woodwork to the painting of a single front door. We will always review any degree of rotten timber or damaged render and will refer you on more extensive damage or make these repairs in addition to the basic preparation. If scaffolding is needed, we have relationships with several reliable scaffolding companies, ensuring all work can be carried out systematically and safely. We tend to carry out the majority of our exterior work between the months of April and October, as lower temperatures can affect the way that both filler and paint cures.
Wallpaper can add vivid patterns and dynamic visuals to a room. From lining paper to ornate patterns and murals, we have a selection of highly-skilled wallpaper hangers in our team. We have hung wallpaper from Timorous Beasties, House of Hackney, Sanderson, Cole & Son, Little Greene, Nina Campbell, Farrow & Ball, Zoffany, Scion, Colefax & Fowler, Osborne & Little, The Victorian Museum, De Gournay, Anthropologie, Zuber & Cie, Villa Nova, Pierre Frey, Dorothy Draper and Fired Earth.
We can also steam and strip all types of existing papers.
We have two very trusted floor sanding companies that we can refer you to for the actual sanding of floorboards. After this initial task is complete we can then oil, varnish, stain, wax or paint floorboards in all shades, colours and finishes.
We use reliable brands such as Osmo, Rustins, Fiddes, Barrettine, Liberon and Sadolin.
After writing her thesis on The Nature of Colour in Residential Buildings during her Masters from the Royal College of Art in Communication Art and Design, Sarah took her creative career into a rather practical sphere. Colour is deeply impactful in the home and we can help you create a fluid scheme that works cohesively. From rich and bold shades to classic neutrals, we not only consider colour but also finishes, texture and pattern.
We can find a palette that suits your property, your needs and desires and your home's function. Not being attached to any singular paint brand allows us to give unbiased opinions on what really fits your home, even if that involves using colours from diverse product ranges.
Limewash is a breathable, beautiful natural paint that does not harm the environment in its manufacture or disposal. Our favourite brand is Bauwerk. Made from sea shells, limewash starts as stone, after being heated and cooled, water is added. and the stone liquifies and becomes lime putty, it’s then mixed and purified and finally pigment is added to create a limewash paint. When it is then painted on a wall it completes the full circle back to microscopic stone.
We are highly experienced in the application of natural limewash paint. From surfaces such as plaster, render, brickwork and drywall we know how to apply the necessary primers and use the correct tools and techniques to suit your preference and property.
